Hello and welcome to Kajabi in 5 Minutes. Today, I've got a short one for you. This episode is about ghost offers. Maybe you've heard of ghost offers before, or maybe you've been using them without knowing what they were called. Today, I'll explain them all to you and hopefully, you'll understand.
What is a Ghost Offer?
In Kajabi, sometimes you want to sell something, but there's no product attached. You might want to collect payment for people coming to an event, live or in person. Maybe there's no product for any reason, like sending a PDF or a download of any kind. You use your offers to collect payment without giving access to a product, and everyone's happy. That's called a ghost offer.
Setting Up a Ghost Offer
Some people ask how they can sell something that doesn't have a product. When you're in the offer setting up all of your payment terms, in the area where you add a product, you just don't add a product there. It's as easy as that. You still have all of the automations and everything else available to you.
The Account Creation Step
There is just one catch, something that really stinks and is annoying. You can't get around it in any way. Whenever somebody buys something from you in a Kajabi offer, that person is going to have to create an account with your Kajabi, which means putting their email address in and creating a password. This step is required even if there's no product attached.
Gift Purchases
If someone is buying this as a gift for someone else, they don't have to create an account, but the person receiving the gift does, which makes sense. However, the person going through the checkout process will have to create a password, which can cause confusion. They might wonder why they have to do this and what they are logging into. If they do log in, they won't see anything there, which is really just annoying.
Addressing the Issue
I don't know why Kajabi hasn't done anything about this yet. It's been this way for years, and maybe they will eventually. But for now, you may want to address it in your messaging. In the email delivering the product, you could explain that there's no need to log into anything. Alternatively, you might choose to ignore it and let people figure it out on their own. Unfortunately, there's no way around this requirement.
