There are so many options for platforms to use to create your website or online course, it can be a bit overwhelming, and leave you always wondering if the other one would have been better for you. Two popular platforms in this space are Kajabi and Wix. While both offer a range of tools and features to help you build and grow your online presence, there are some key differences between the two. In this article, I am going to talk about those differences and help you understand what the strengths are for each platform. Some of the key differences include:

1. Kajabi is primarily geared towards course creators and digital entrepreneurs, while Wix is a more general-purpose website builder that can be used to build any kind of website.
2. Kajabi offers a range of features you would likely want to use if you are creating and selling online courses, including course creation tools, student management, and payment processing. Wix does not have these types of features, although it does offer e-commerce capabilities for selling physical products.
3. Kajabi is an all-in-one platform providing a range of features to cover all your online business needs. Wix is a website platform that has some business features to let you sell and market your products.
4. The Wix website editor is drag and drop providing more freedom and flexibility in the design. The Kajabi website editor allows you to move content around, but not with the ease of dragging content around on the screen.

Probably the biggest thing to understand when comparing these two platforms is their purpose is different. Kajabi is focused on helping you create and sell online courses, it gives you lots of tools to work with. Tools that help you create engaging content, including the ability to add video, audio, and quizzes/assessments to your website or courses; and tools to help your audience use your content, like a smartphone app. Kajabi gives you unlimited video and audio storage so you don’t need to pay for that data storage like you do if you use a service like Vimeo to host your videos. It also has an affiliate program, which allows you to easily promote your courses to a wider audience.

However, because it provides all these tools and aims to cover so many of your needs, the price is higher than Wix which is focused just on being a solution for your website. Also, because Wix is focused on website creation, Wix does have more design and customization options than you have with Kajabi.

2. The Growth plan is $199 per month ($159 on the annual plan)  and gives you 15 products and up to 25,000 contacts on your email list, as well as access to the affiliates program, advanced automations, 24/7 chat support, and the ability to remove Kajabi branding.
3. The Pro plan is $399 per month ($319 on the annual plan) and gives you 100 products and up to 100,000, as well as 2 extra websites and access to the code editor.

You need to pay an extra fee to get the full email marketing tools.

Each plan offers slightly different functionality and is meant to be a solution for a specific set of needs. This is both good and bad. Good because it gives someone a chance to have a great website at a very low cost if you don’t need more than a basic website. Bad, because it can be complicated to know which plan you need, and there will always be promotions to try and sell you into more of what is offered and you have to pay for more features and functionality. This pricing framework can be difficult to navigate and understand what you need and what your full price is going to be before you commit to the platform.

Wix Pricing

Wix offers 7 different pricing options ranging from $4.50 to $35 not including the add on fee for email marketing which ranges from $10 to $49 per month. I am finding the pricing to be overly complicated to understand and wasn’t able to find the pricing for email marketing until I created an account with Wix and was able to log in. Ultimately, the price difference between Kajabi and Wix will depend on the specific plan you choose and the features you need. If all you need is a website then Wix is going to be a cheaper option. If you need more than that, Kajabi might be a lower cost solution for you once you consider all the fees from all the other platforms you will be using to fill in the feature gaps.
